Egyptian education technology company iSchool has acquired Rubikal, a software engineering firm also based in Egypt, according to a report dated April 22, 2026. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

Rubikal, founded in 2016, builds real-time, scalable and fault-tolerant web applications. Its founding team and 21 engineers are joining iSchool as part of the transaction. The two companies had already worked together for three years before the acquisition. iSchool said the deal gives it ownership of its complete technology stack and supports its plan to design, build and deploy education products for schools that are based on artificial intelligence.

iSchool was founded in 2018 and became known for live, gamified classes taught by coding instructors. It now operates in more than 20 countries, has a growing base of institutional clients and is extending its business into AI-powered learning systems. The acquisition reflects a change in direction for the company, from delivering courses to learners toward supplying integrated technology infrastructure to schools. By bringing engineering capacity in-house, iSchool aims to offer learning systems that are more integrated and easier to scale across the institutions it serves.

Why it matters

By absorbing an engineering firm, a coding education provider is positioning itself to build AI-based learning infrastructure for schools rather than relying on outside developers.
