Workday announced on September 16, 2025 that it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire Sana, a Stockholm-based artificial intelligence company, for approximately $1.1 billion.

Sana, founded in 2016, develops AI tools for enterprise knowledge and learning. Its products include Sana Learn, a learning platform that combines learning management, content creation, course generation and personalized tutoring, and Sana Agents, a no-code builder for agents that automate repetitive work. The company reports more than one million users across hundreds of enterprises. Workday expects the transaction to close in the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2026, which ends on January 31, 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. Allen & Company advised Workday and DLA Piper advised Sana.

Workday, a Nasdaq-listed provider of human resources and finance software, serves more than 11,000 organizations and about 75 million users, and said it plans to bring Sana's agent and learning tools to that customer base. Customer examples cited in the announcement include a manufacturer that raised learning engagement by 275% with Sana Learn and an organization that cut course creation time from four months to four days.
