The Euro-Mediterranean University of Fez (UEMF) and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University inaugurated a shared international campus at UEMF's Eco-campus in Fez, Morocco, on October 15, 2026. The presidents of the two universities signed a cooperation agreement at the ceremony, which was attended by academics, students and representatives of the French diplomatic community.
According to Morocco World News, students on the shared campus can follow the same programmes offered in Paris without relocating to France. Morocco has accredited a new master's degree in Mediterranean and African policies covering political science, history and sociology. The partners also plan eight doctoral research grants focused on artificial intelligence and its links with the humanities and social sciences, along with joint doctoral supervision and research residencies for faculty.
The campus builds on a decade of cooperation. The universities began with a double degree in political science in 2016, added a Franco-Moroccan master's in business law in 2022 and signed a cooperation agreement in March 2023. A Paris 1 delegation visited Fez in February 2026 to discuss the shared campus. UEMF students come from 52 nationalities, the report said.
Why it matters
The shared campus lets students in Morocco earn Paris 1 programmes without moving abroad, an example of transnational education that widens access to European degrees across the Mediterranean and Africa.
