About University of British Columbia
The University of British Columbia was established by a provincial University Act in 1908 and opened in 1915 in temporary premises near Vancouver General Hospital, moving to its Point Grey campus in 1925. A second major campus in Kelowna became UBC Okanagan in 2005, following a merger with Okanagan University College. Teaching is organised into faculties and schools covering applied science, arts, science, medicine, dentistry, pharmaceutical sciences, forestry, education, business, law and music, among others. The university reports 72,100 students, 60,309 in Vancouver and 11,791 in the Okanagan, and 20,662 faculty and staff.
