Techstars announced on June 3, 2024 the relaunch of its Workforce Development Accelerator and named the 12 startups selected for the 2024 class. The three-month program, announced from Denver, began on June 10 and is run in partnership with Strada Education Foundation and World Education Services.

The selected companies work on labor-market problems such as career pathways, upskilling, navigating education options and financial savings. They include CareerGenie, a mobile app for career discovery and interview preparation; Fathom, a career management platform for workforce agencies; Incskill, an AI-based upskilling platform for people with disabilities and nontraditional learners; and BillionMinds, which helps employees build skills for flexible and distributed work. Participants receive seed investment, mentorship from the Techstars network and business coaching. The startups are based in cities including Tulsa, New York, Seattle and Nashville.

The 2024 group is the fourth class of the workforce program. Techstars said the first three classes produced 32 companies that together raised more than $68 million. Techstars describes itself as a pre-seed investor that has backed more than 4,000 early-stage startups. It said the two partner organizations contribute expertise in careers and education, along with mentoring, to the program.

Why it matters
