India's Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) published the date sheets for its 2027 Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations on November 6, 2026. Both sets of exams are scheduled to begin on February 16, 2027. More than 46 lakh students have registered, including over 26.5 lakh in Class 10 and over 19.8 lakh in Class 12.

According to reports of the release, Class 10 candidates will sit papers in 83 subjects and Class 12 candidates in 121 subjects, with every paper starting at 10:30 am IST. The board said it had checked more than 40,000 subject combinations so that no candidate has two of their chosen subjects on the same day. CBSE linked the early publication, about 101 days before the first paper, to schools submitting their lists of candidates on time, and said advance dates help students plan revision and give schools serving as exam centres time to prepare.

Practical exams for winter-bound schools are listed for November 9 to December 19, 2026, and for other schools from January 1 to February 13, 2027. Class 10 students also have a two-exam system, under which a compulsory first session can be followed by an optional second session to improve scores in up to three subjects after first-session results are declared.

Why it matters

Publishing a national exam timetable more than three months ahead gives students and schools a fixed assessment calendar, and the subject-clash checks show how a board running exams for over 46 lakh candidates plans fair scheduling.
